Writing Instruction

Teaching writing is an art in itself. Since 2011, I have taught writing to children, teenagers and adults in three countries. As an educator, I have advanced my understanding of storytelling, structure, vocabulary, research and collaborative writing.

At the University of Iowa Writing Resource, I provided collaborative writing instruction to American and international graduate students working on advanced projects, such as dissertations and grant proposals. My Collaborative Writing Consultancy team presented our unique workshopping approach at conferences, gaining notoriety among writing scholars. Through this experience, along with classes provided by Writer’s Workshop instructors and students, I quickly learned how to form the complex ideas of others into chewable morsels of information for different purposes and audiences.

More recently, I have served as a News Production sponsor, leading student writers in producing digital and print high school magazines and social media content targeted at teenagers. Through this experience, I have gained in-depth knowledge of AP style and software programs such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, WordPress and Canva. Public education is a tough gig these days, so I have also learned how to masterfully reason with people in language that meets their needs while hitting a never-ending cycle of deadlines.
